Export your expenses to Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets

Your entries belong to you, so you can take them anywhere. Pocket PnL exports everything, a year, a month or any date range as a CSV file that every spreadsheet app opens.

What the file looks like

Each row is one entry, oldest first. Here are three example rows:

DateTimeTypeAmountCurrencyNoteTagPayment MethodCardOriginal AmountOriginal CurrencyExchange Rate
2026-08-0108:10Income840.00USDPaycheckWorkOnline
2026-08-0112:05Expense-142.30USDWeekly shopGroceriesPoint of SaleVisa
2026-08-0309:40Expense-5.29USDCoffeeRestaurantsPoint of SaleVisa-4.80EUR1.102083

The 12 columns

  • Date and Time, as 2026-08-01 and 14:05, which spreadsheets sort correctly.
  • Type, Income or Expense, and Amount in your home currency. Amounts are signed, so expenses are negative and a SUM of the column gives your net.
  • Currency, your home currency.
  • Note, Tag, Payment Method and Card, as you logged them.
  • Original Amount, Original Currency and Exchange Rate, filled in for entries logged in another currency.

Numbers always use a decimal point, whatever language your iPhone is set to, so the file opens the same everywhere. It's UTF-8 with a byte order mark, which makes Excel show currency symbols and accented letters correctly. The file is named after the export date, like PocketPnL-2026-10-17.csv, or after the range you chose.

How to export

  1. Open Settings in Pocket PnL and go to the export section.
  2. Choose All, Year, Month or a custom range.
  3. Share the file to Files, Mail, AirDrop or any app you like.

Opening it

Google Sheets

Create a blank spreadsheet, choose File, then Import, then Upload, and pick the file. "Replace current sheet" works well for a fresh copy.

Excel

Double-click the file to open it, or in a workbook choose Data, then From Text/CSV, to control the column types.

Numbers

Open the file from the Files app or drag it onto Numbers. Each column comes in with its header.

Ideas for the spreadsheet

  • Paste it into the free income and expense tracker template, which has the same 12 columns and adds a monthly summary.
  • A pivot table of Amount by Tag and month shows long-term patterns the app's stats don't cover.
  • Filter Type to Expense and Card to one card to check a statement line by line.
  • Keep a yearly copy as a backup that doesn't depend on any app.

Receipt photos aren't part of the CSV. Share any you need from the entry itself.

There's no account to make first. Open the app, tap minus and type the amount.
